Got asked a question, by a customer today about their CCTV system. Now I’ve made some changes to their system remotely using the app that we’ve got to log into the cameras and make some changes. And they were a little worried and justifiably so, about why can’t I hack the rest of their network at home?

And I can’t. Clearly, that would be a silly idea to allow me and anybody access through the camera system. So the app logs into the manufacturer’s servers and the cameras and the recorder also send their data to the servers. God knows where the cloud server is. It could be anywhere.

I don’t know. I don’t need to know but the point about it is that we’ve got this dedicated app, on our computers here, and it logs into the partisan servers. It doesn’t log directly into your network at home all I can see is the CCTV equipment.

I can’t see anything else to do with your network at all. So there is no need to be concerned.
