We always recommend that you let your neighbours know that you’re having a CCTV system installed. Most will be quite happy, as it will help protect them too; however, some may object, and they’re quite within their rights to.
Commercial CCTV & signage
For commercial systems, clear signage telling people they’re being recorded is required, and footage must be handled in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 as you’re acting as a data controller.
How long footage is kept
Systems recording 24/7 are typically set up to keep at least 30 days of footage. Systems that only record on motion can hold recordings for months before the oldest is overwritten.
How Much Does a CCTV System Cost?
If you require a bespoke system there are a range of factors that need to be taken into account. The number of cameras is a key consideration, as well as the quality of these cameras. Most cctv systems will provide 2MP cameras but we can provide up to 8MP, which should be more than sufficient for your needs. A 1TB hard drive will usually provide two weeks worth of footage, however if your system is more advanced, you will need more storage. Additionally installation costs depend on the complexity of the CCTV system.
