How easy is it to update an old alarm system

So how easy is it to upgrade an alarm system? So let’s work on the basis that you’ve got an old hardwired alarm system. It’s been in, I don’t know, 2030 years or so. It’s all cabled up, it’s basically working, but it’s a bit old and a bit tired. So how easy is it to upgrade?

Well, there’s two ways of going about it. Both are actually fairly easy, the first is that you don’t necessarily have to change all the sensors if you don’t want to, if they’re working okay, but you want greater reliability from the control panel and you want to be able to use an app, which perhaps your old system doesn’t have, then upgrading the panel to, a modern wireless system.

Most modern wireless systems, certainly the professionally installed ones, will have an adapter, for want of a better word, where you can cable, up your, connect your existing cabled, sensors into that and it converts them into wireless sensors. At that point, if any then go wrong, then you can change those ones for standard, wireless ones.

The other thing that you can do, of course, is just to completely change everything. But because obviously wireless systems these days, are so easy to install, that just taking down an existing sensor, chopping the cables back and covering them over with the new sensor, is nice and easy.

So two ways of going about it, and if you’ve got any questions, give us a ring and we’ll answer them.
