In the third of our series of videos on the factors that need to be considered when you’re installing a CCTV system is the image quality. Now, at the time of recording this video, there are three kind of image, qualities of around two megapixel, five megapixel and eight megapixel.

Now if you’ve looked at cameras in any way, whether it’s stills or videos, megapixels is something that you’ll have come across. So what you’ve got to do is to balance the image quality that you need versus the price that you’re prepared to pay. Obviously two megapixels, is the lowest resolution of the three, provides, a decent level of picture, don’t get me wrong, and obviously is the least expensive.

If you need some really good detail, level of detail on the images that you record, then you might want to go for eight megapixel. But obviously that’s the more expensive or the most expensive, of the three in terms of installation cost and therefore, obviously you can tell that five megapixel is kind of in between.

So that’s the factor to consider. It’s balancing cost versus the quality of picture that you get.
