Every summer, I post a warning to people not to post their holiday photos on their social media, as it advertises the fact that your house is empty.

And every year, some bright spark comes back and says “Well, yeah, but they don’t know where I live.”

She’s brilliant. She shows just how easy it is for someone to find your real name and roughly where you live just from a social media user name

And with your name, it’s fairly straightforward to find a list of potential addresses, which can be narrowed down by looking at other social media photos. And bingo. Your house.
