More and more businesses are setting themselves up to reopen, or to increase their capacity.
And it got me to thinking.
How many businesses have a keypad or pushbutton lock? Some have them on their entrance door, to save on having loads of keys cut.
Others have something simple on places like stationery cupboards, or conference rooms, as a simple access control device. You see them all the time on the door between the public areas and staff-only areas of shops.
These devices make it necessary to touch something that somebody else has recently touched. Is this really the right thing to do in our post-Covid normal?
Perhaps the answer is to replace these locks with a contactless entry device.
