If you see an advert either online or in print for a registered locksmith or a licenced locksmith, don’t believe it. There is no requirement in this country for any locksmith to be registered with the police, or with local authorities ,or with the Home Office or anything like that. There is also no licencing of locksmiths. We believe there should, because locksmiths obviously have a lot of responsibility looking after people’s homes and businesses. But currently there is no requirement for registration or licencing. So if you see someone advertising as such, take that with a pinch of salt and then think to yourself are they the right person they want to be employing, if they lie in their advertising.
